K Drama review-My name is Kim Sam Soon

Once you cross 25, it is the other half of your beloved 'Twenties'!!

The thirties which once was distant future appears in the horizon. Even if you are 'age is just a number' kind of person the thought is surely scary for most of us. The society has set some benchmarks that you must achieve before you reach the golden number 30! Be it your career or personal life. If you happen to be a unmarried woman then it is GAME OVER!!. Kim Sam Soon is in same situation-30-something-Yet not settled in career and unmarried...!

But she is not like conventional fragile female leads. She is no non sense, loud lady. She considers herself little overweight which adds to insecurity about her appearance. Her name as it literally means 'third daughter'. That's why she hates her name and want to change it ASAP. She studied abroad and is pastry chef.

On the other hand 27 years old  Hyun Jin-heon (Hyun Bin) is owner of a French restaurant. His family is rich and owns hotel but he wants to make his own name in industry. When Sam Soon is looking for job, Jin Heon happens to hire her owing to her excellent skills.

Jin Heon's mother consistently pesters him to get married and sends him to blind dates where he always insults prospect girls. One day Sam Soon's family needs large sum of money to repay some old debt. Tired of frequent nagging by his mother, Jin-Heon strikes deal with Sam Soon for contract dating in return for money. That will stop him from futile blind dates. Moreover both of them think other one as complete idiot so they will never fall for each other. So the story unfolds from there. We have all mandatory characters and events like past relationships, love triangles to make it package entertainment.

Why it is recommended

  • Some of the things I like about this drama characters are so relatable. Dialogues are super funny.
  •  Situations are funnier like how person will behave when toilet roll is over according to blood type, Sams Shik song, how Jin Heon ruins every date Sam Soon has, her hike to the mountain, karaoke at home, fighting scene at Jeju hotel.
  • The OSTs are spot on and not overplayed like some of the recent dramas. (The one with Clazziquai)
  • Hyun Bin looks adorable with baby-fat. Sam Soon steals the show with her powerful performance.
  • I like her mother and sister's character also.
  • There is always bakery food which may make you hungry while watching.

What could have been better

  • The drama drags little towards the end.
  • Kim Sam Soon does not really look fat as it is portrayed in the drama
  • You will feel sorry for Sam Soon's arranged marriage date.

If you are new to drama world and watch it first it will set your expectations very high for sure.

Review-Reply 1988

There are 3 dramas in 'Reply' series. I have watched only 1988 version, TWICE. Let me tell you, every episode is almost 1.5 hours yet I have no regrets. As the name suggests this series takes place in the year 1988. It is story of five childhood friends and their families living in Ssangmun-dong neighborhood of Seoul. Duk seon is the only girl in the group of five. Sun Woo is student council president. Jung-Hwan is from rich family. Choi Taek is brilliant Baduk player who has left school to focus on his game. Dong Ryong is mischievous and has no interest in studies. These friends often hang out in Taek's room, dancing, arguing, eating pizza and ramen, watching video tapes. The drama shows daily life and struggles of everyone and how their friendship changes subtly over the course of time. It also has second set of characters-the parents and the siblings. They are also equal part of the drama. The cinematography is really good. If you are 90's kid then you

Anime Review- Erased

Erased/ Boku Dare Ga Inai Machi Meaning- The town without me Country: Japan Genre: Shounen/Seinen There are certain events in our lives which have impacted everything afterwards. Some are good some might be bad ones. What if we are given a chance to go back to the past and try to correct that event to our favor? Sounds exciting as well as frightening! Same chances are given to Satoru Fujinuma.  He is 29 years old struggling manga artist who also works as pizza delivery man. He has special ability termed as 'revival' which sends him back in time just few moments before the a tragedy. He does not have any control over this ability. Usually he will be sent back in time just for one to five minutes before incident takes place. On one day, his mother is murdered and 'revival' kicks in. But he is sent back in time by 18 years! Back in those days, he is just a school going kid living with his single mother. He wonders what he has to co

Review-Kaichou wa Maid Sama!

Kaichou wa Maid Sama! (The class president is a maid! ) What will happen if someone finds out your best kept secret? Have you ever wondered how protagonist girl in the typical Shoujo anime world is often portrayed as fragile, innocent and oblivious. If you are looking for change then you should definitely check the female lead here- Ayuzawa Misaki. She is student council president of Seika high school. It was previously boys only school notorious for rowdy students. Misaki has been working hard to make the place better for girl students. She is fearless, authoritative and strives for well-being of school. However in the eyes of boys she is the villain as she puts lot of restriction on them. Behind this facade of strictness, she is harboring a secret. Being from not so well to do household she has been working as part timer at Maid cafe. The 'maid Misaki' is completely opposite of her school personality. She has not told anyone  as people will judge her. It will ruin
