K Drama review-Father is strange

This the first weekend drama I have watched. Unlike 16 or 20 episode format it has 52 episodes! But worry not. You will survive.

This is a story of really big family of Byun Hansu, his wife and their 4 children- Eldest son and three daughters. He runs small eatery with his wife. The elder son is preparing for civil exams for five years, the big daughter is  hot shot lawyer in reputed firm, next one is searching for job and the youngest one is a Yoga teacher in an institute. If you feel this is too much information to keep up?? Wait! There is an extended family of wife's brother who lives downstairs in the same apartment complex with their mother. It takes about two episodes to understand relationship and who is who. In this big family, suddenly a new member arrives!

This is none other but son of Byun Hansu!! Moreover this son is struggling idol turned drama actor who is trolled for his 'very bad acting'. His real intention to get connected to his father is to improve his acting skills by feeling emotions which he never felt before. But it is not that simple. Everyone in the family is shocked to know about existence of the son in the first place. So the drama essentially revolves around the new son and his interaction with this family, the children and their life and love interests, weddings, and truth that is deep buried in the past of Byun Hansu.

I started watching this when I was travelling in train. That time I did not know there were so many episodes. But to tell the truth I really enjoyed watching this drama.

Why it is recommended
  • The story progresses slowly unlike our regular mini series. But that could be good thing as well. We can actually understand how things are taking place.
  • Everyone has played their role very well especially Kim Yeong-cheol as  father ,Lee Joon as a confused, not so welcomed son of the family. But Lee Yuri as Hye-young steals the show with her superb acting and chemistry with Ryu soo young. You will end up loving her.
  • It is available on YouTube
What could have been better
  • The moms in this drama are sometimes too much. I felt like I am watching some Indian daily soap.
  • So Min is also little dull in this. I liked her better in 'because this is my first life.'
If you have plenty of time to spend or bored with typical formula of 16 episode drama series you can give it try. (you can always skip scenes of people you don't like hehe)

Country: South Korea
Cast: Kim Yeong-cheol, Kim Hae-sook, Ryu Soo-young, Lee Yoo-ri, Lee Joon, Jung So-min and many more...

Review-Reply 1988

There are 3 dramas in 'Reply' series. I have watched only 1988 version, TWICE. Let me tell you, every episode is almost 1.5 hours yet I have no regrets. As the name suggests this series takes place in the year 1988. It is story of five childhood friends and their families living in Ssangmun-dong neighborhood of Seoul. Duk seon is the only girl in the group of five. Sun Woo is student council president. Jung-Hwan is from rich family. Choi Taek is brilliant Baduk player who has left school to focus on his game. Dong Ryong is mischievous and has no interest in studies. These friends often hang out in Taek's room, dancing, arguing, eating pizza and ramen, watching video tapes. The drama shows daily life and struggles of everyone and how their friendship changes subtly over the course of time. It also has second set of characters-the parents and the siblings. They are also equal part of the drama. The cinematography is really good. If you are 90's kid then you

Anime Review- Erased

Erased/ Boku Dare Ga Inai Machi Meaning- The town without me Country: Japan Genre: Shounen/Seinen There are certain events in our lives which have impacted everything afterwards. Some are good some might be bad ones. What if we are given a chance to go back to the past and try to correct that event to our favor? Sounds exciting as well as frightening! Same chances are given to Satoru Fujinuma.  He is 29 years old struggling manga artist who also works as pizza delivery man. He has special ability termed as 'revival' which sends him back in time just few moments before the a tragedy. He does not have any control over this ability. Usually he will be sent back in time just for one to five minutes before incident takes place. On one day, his mother is murdered and 'revival' kicks in. But he is sent back in time by 18 years! Back in those days, he is just a school going kid living with his single mother. He wonders what he has to co

Review-Kaichou wa Maid Sama!

Kaichou wa Maid Sama! (The class president is a maid! ) What will happen if someone finds out your best kept secret? Have you ever wondered how protagonist girl in the typical Shoujo anime world is often portrayed as fragile, innocent and oblivious. If you are looking for change then you should definitely check the female lead here- Ayuzawa Misaki. She is student council president of Seika high school. It was previously boys only school notorious for rowdy students. Misaki has been working hard to make the place better for girl students. She is fearless, authoritative and strives for well-being of school. However in the eyes of boys she is the villain as she puts lot of restriction on them. Behind this facade of strictness, she is harboring a secret. Being from not so well to do household she has been working as part timer at Maid cafe. The 'maid Misaki' is completely opposite of her school personality. She has not told anyone  as people will judge her. It will ruin
